Lakeland Central School District Department is seeking a Senior Bookkeeper for our Business Office. Candidate must hold the permanent civil service title of Senior Bookkeeper or be eligible to take the Civil Service Exam for this title. Under general supervision, the duties of this position involve responsibility for advanced level financial record keeping. This employee is fully responsibility for maintaining and operating a set of general books, including subsidiary ledgers. The use of automated systems is required. Thorough knowledge of modern methods used in keeping and checking financial records and reports is required in addition to good knowledge of principles and practices used in single and double-entry bookkeeping. Some examples of work would be to compile and analyze a variety of complex accounting and statistical information to prepare financial and statistical reports. Also, this employee prepares budgets and maintains controls on budget accounts and reconciles bank statements with cash books. Responsible for computing payments and charges and prepares statements. Ability to use computer applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, calendar, email and database software in performing work assignments.Minimum acceptable training and experience: Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and three (3) years of financial record keeping. Substitution: Satisfactory completion of 60 college credits towards a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, including a minimum of six credits in Accounting may be substituted for up to two (2) years of the experience described above. Salary: $51,617 - $83,514. M-F. This is a 12 month position.
