MTSSI Definition: The MTSS-I framework enables the alignment of systems necessary to help schools and districts integrate priorities and organize resources. Using a continuum of evidence-based and culturally responsive instruction, interventions, and assessment practices, all students receive the precise level of support they need. Reports To: Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction Location: Districtwide Start Date: ASAP Position Overview:The Director of Learning oversees MTSSI responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving a comprehensive MTSSI framework that supports the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional development of all students. This role ensures alignment with KLSD’s Vision 2030, the KLSD Profile of a Learner, and the district’s commitment to Empowering All through inclusive, equitable, and student-centered learning environments. The Director of Learning collaborates with district and school-based teams to lead professional development, provide coaching, ensure compliance, manage MTSSI data systems, and build capacity across all schools. The role includes direct involvement in instructional and curricular improvement efforts that elevate student achievement and well-being. Key Responsibilities:Leadership & Program Implementation Lead the design and continuous improvement of a districtwide MTSSI framework that integrates academic, behavioral, and social-emotional supports. Collaborate with school leaders, instructional coaches, and support services teams to align tiered systems and ensure equitable access for all students. Facilitate the implementation of universal screening tools, tiered intervention protocols, and digital tracking systems (e.g., DIBELS, NWEA). Oversee the functioning of MTSSI and building-level support for Student Empowerment Data Teams, including data-driven problem-solving and collaborative decision-making. Guide school-based alignment of MTSSI practices to each building’s Empowerment Plan and district goals. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to student support services and equity initiatives. Build partnerships with community-based agencies and external providers to strengthen student and family support. Chair the Districtwide MTSSI committee guided by full implementation of and fidelity to the MTSSI plan. Professional Development Duties:Needs Assessment:?Identify professional development needs of administrators, teachers, and support staff related to MTSS, instructional practices, and student supports. Program Development and Delivery:?Design and deliver professional development offerings including workshops, training sessions, job-embedded coaching, and digital resources. Capacity Building:?Build the capacity of school- and district-level staff to effectively implement MTSSI and improve student outcomes using evidence-based strategies. Monitoring and Evaluation:?Monitor and assess the effectiveness of professional development efforts and adjust programs based on data and feedback. Curriculum and Instruction Integration:?Collaborate on the design and implementation of curriculum and instructional practices that include research-based interventions and inclusive pedagogies. Support the onboarding process relative to professional learning for new KLSD teachers. Data & Program Monitoring Support the development and alignment of school-based SMART goals to each school’s Empowerment Plan. Implement and support the use of digital MTSSI platforms for intervention tracking, progress monitoring, and cross-team communication. Lead data reviews across schools and provide guidance to teams in interpreting results and adjusting supports accordingly. Prepare internal and external reports, including those required by the state or for district evaluation purposes. Family & Community Engagement Ensure clear communication with families regarding MTSSI processes, student progress, and available supports. Promote shared ownership of student success by partnering with caregivers and the broader community. Represent MTSS goals and initiatives at family forums, Board presentations, and district-level engagements. Supervision & Compliance Supervise and evaluate MTSSI-related support staff and lead cross-departmental collaboration on shared student goals. Maintain knowledge of relevant laws, regulations, and best practices and ensure all processes meet compliance standards. Support school administrators in aligning MTSS work with Empowerment Plans, accountability metrics, and staff development needs. Supervise and coordinate KLSD’s community partnership with a Universal Pre-K program. Coordinate relationships and schedules with vendors and external partners relevant to professional development. Oversee New Teacher & Mentor Program in conjunction with Human Resources Dept. Qualifications:Required Master's degree in education, Educational Leadership, School Psychology, or related field. Valid New York State Administrative Certification (SDL) Minimum 10 years of successful educational experience, including classroom teaching and leadership/coaching roles. Demonstrated experience designing and delivering high-impact professional development. Proven ability to use data to guide systems-level decisions and improve outcomes. Strong interpersonal and leadership skills Preferred Experience in district-level MTSSI implementation and program evaluation with evidence of results positively impacting students. Successful building-level administration experience. Familiarity with digital tools such as NWEA, DIBELS, mClass, RTI & MTSS Program Management (formerly known as RTIm Direct), IXL, or similar platforms. Working knowledge of special education, 504 processes, and inclusive education law. Experience partnering with families, agencies, and community organizations to support diverse learners. Other Duties as Assigned Performs additional responsibilities aligned with district priorities and evolving school needs. Salary Range: Salary and benefits are competitive for the region.
