KLSD is looking for a thoughtful and knowledgeable educator to serve in the probationary position of Science (Biology) Teacher at John Jay High School beginning September 1, 2025. Qualifications: Possess a current NYS certification for Biology Grades 7-12.Additional 7-12 science certifications are highly desirable. Responsibilities: Demonstrate enthusiasm for building relationships with students as much as the subject.Teach to and beyond NYS Science Standards.Be reflective about teaching practices.Show familiarity with College Board curriculum and/or Advanced Placement classes.Have experience with, or understanding of, project-based learning.Demonstrate an understanding of the New York State Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Education Framework and/or restorative practices.Actively participates in a professional learning community (PLC), engaging in ongoing, collaborative professional learning to refine and enhance instructional practice.Works with colleagues to analyze student data, share best practices, and implement research-based strategies that improve student outcomes. Hours: Full-time (10 month) Anticipated Start Date: September 1, 2025 Salary: $62,699 - $141,489 as per the KLDTA contract
