Position Title: Director of Assessment, Research, and TechnologyDepartment: Department of Assessment, Research, and Technology Direct Report: Superintendent and Assistant Superintendent of CurriculumSupervise: Assessment, Research, and Technology DepartmentLocation: District Office Position Summary: The Director of Assessment, Research, and Technology is responsible for leading the district’s assessment program, conducting educational research, and overseeing the strategic integration of technology to improve student learning. A key component of the role is supporting Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) by providing the data, tools, and research needed for teams to make informed instructional decisions that improve student outcomes. Essential Roles and Responsibilities: Assessment Leadership Develop, implement, and monitor a district-wide assessment system that supports PLCs in tracking student progress on academic standards.Provide PLCs with timely, actionable data to guide instructional planning and interventions.Ensure assessments are aligned with curriculum and instruction to promote coherence and improve student achievement.Support PLCs in creating and using common formative assessments to monitor student learning.Oversee the administration of state and district assessments and ensure results are translated into meaningful insights for educator teams.Research and Evaluation Lead research initiatives that evaluate the effectiveness of instructional programs and interventions within the PLC framework.Conduct data analysis that informs PLCs’ goal-setting and continuous improvement cycles.Train and coach teacher teams on action research practices to investigate instructional strategies and improve student learning outcomes.Develop protocols for using data in PLCs, ensuring that all teams have access to consistent, user-friendly reports.Identify trends in student learning and work with schools to address achievement gaps. Informational/Instructional Technology Develop and implement a strategic vision for technology that enhances collaboration within PLCs and improves instructional practices. Including the development and pursuit of the KLSD Technology Plan.Select and integrate technology tools that support data analysis, formative assessment, and student engagement.Lead professional development on technology use, focusing on tools that help PLCs analyze data and personalize instruction.Oversee the district's technology infrastructure, ensuring it supports efficient data collection, analysis, and sharing.Manage the technology budget, including BOCES and LHRIC services, and supervise staff within the Assessment, Research, and Technology Department.Apply for grants and manage federal funding (e.g., e-Rate) to expand technology resources. Collaboration and Communication Partner with parents and PTOs across the district.Serve as a key resource for PLC facilitators, administrators, and teacher teams in using data and technology to drive improvement.Build the district’s capacity for data-driven decision-making by providing training and coaching on data interpretation and application.Communicate assessment results, research findings, and technology updates clearly and effectively to a range of stakeholders.Present data and recommendations to the school board, district committees, and community members to inform policy and practice.Qualifications: Certification Master’s degree in educational Measurement, Educational Leadership, Educational Technology, or a related field. New York State District Administrator CertificationKnowledge and Skills Demonstrated experience supporting Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) or collaborative instructional teams.Expertise in assessment development, data analysis, and research methodologies.Strong background in integrating educational technology into the classroom to support student-centered learning and data-driven instruction.Exceptional leadership and communication skills, with the ability to facilitate data-driven conversations among diverse stakeholders.Familiarity with student information systems, data analysis software, and learning management systems.Skilled in project management and all related tasks. ExperienceDesired 5 years of administrative experience. Hours: Full-time (12 month) Anticipated Start Date: July 1, 2025 Salary: Approximately $175,000, contingent on experience and credentials
