We are seeking a part-time Speech-Language Pathologist to support preschool-aged children through direct therapy, classroom-based intervention, assessment, consultation, and collaboration with our interdisciplinary teams. Position Summary The Speech-Language Pathologist supports children’s communication development within an inclusive preschool setting. This position provides individual, group, and classroom-based services while working closely with teachers, therapists, support staff, and families. The ideal candidate brings strong knowledge of early childhood development, inclusive practices, and evidence-based speech and language interventions, along with a collaborative and child-centered approach. Schedule This is a 50-60% part-time position, equivalent to approximately 18-20 hours per week based on Jowonio’s 37.5-hour full-time schedule. The specific weekly schedule will be established based on program needs and candidate availability. What You’ll Do Assess children’s speech, language, and functional communication skills using developmentally appropriate approaches. Provide individual and group therapy in classrooms and designated therapy spaces. Lead and participate in small- and large-group classroom activities that promote communication development. Embed speech and language interventions into classroom routines, play, and natural learning opportunities. Develop language-based activities and practical strategies for teachers and classroom teams to implement throughout the school day. Collaborate regularly with teachers, therapists, support staff, and families regarding children’s communication needs, goals, and progress. Model effective communication strategies that can be used across school and home environments. Support children who use augmentative and alternative communication systems or other assistive technologies. Participate as a member of evaluation teams and contribute to supplemental evaluations as assigned. Contribute to IFSPs, IEPs, progress reports, evaluation reports, updates, and transition documentation. Maintain timely and accurate therapy logs, progress notes, service documentation, and related records. Participate in interdisciplinary planning and problem-solving to support each child’s educational and developmental needs. Qualifications Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Current New York State license as a Speech-Language Pathologist. Strong communication, collaboration, organizational, and documentation skills. Ability to work effectively within a team-based educational environment. Experience working with preschool-aged children is preferred. Experience supporting children with disabilities or developmental differences. Knowledge of early childhood development, play-based learning, inclusive education, and classroom-based intervention is preferred.
