QUALIFICATIONS:N.Y. State Administrative certification (SBL)Five years of administrative experience at the building level.Strong background in educational programs, curriculum and staff development.POSITION OBJECTIVE:To develop, administer, and direct the programs and activities of the building so that all students are provided with an education which is consistent with the district's Mission Statement and which will enable the students to maximize their continued intellectual, physical and emotional development at all levels of education.RESPONSIBILITIES: Interviews, recommends, assigns and orients all new staff members for the building. Assesses staff development needs and, with the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, coordinates the implementation of an ongoing program of staff development and in-service education for the professional staff of the building. Supervises and evaluates all professional, aides and clerical staff in the building; cooperates with the Director of Facilities in the evaluation of custodial personnel in the building. Develops the annual budget for the building; oversees expenditures. Oversees inventory of supplies and equipment for the building. Organizes and directs all building activities. Serves as a member of the Superintendent's Cabinet and the district's Curriculum Committee. Cooperates with the principal(s) of other buildings in the district to ensure equity for all children in the district. Oversee all matters dealing with school-community relations for the building; coordinates publications activities. Organizes and serves on building Committee on Special Education. Attends all School Board meetings and prepares reports for the Superintendent as requested. Assumes responsibility for the management of the school in accordance with law, administrative code and board policies and regulations Exercises leadership in school-level planning for improvement of instruction. Establishes and maintains an effective learning climate in the school. Assists in the selection of appropriate instructional materials and monitors delivery of the instructional program. Conducts staff meetings as necessary for the proper functioning of the school. Conducts periodic observations of teaching staff members; prepares written comments; and offers constructive suggestions for improvement when appropriate. Develops and maintains a master schedule for the academic, extracurricular programs, and works cooperatively with the business office to schedule community use of the school building and grounds. Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may be assigned by the Superintendent.
