Elementary Science Cluster Teacher - Probationary 1.0 FTE - 2026/27 School Year KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Design and facilitate rigorous, inquiry-based science instruction for students in grades 4 and 5 aligned to the NYS Science Learning Standards (NYSSLYS). Cultivate a student-centered classroom environment that prioritizes curiosity, critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application of scientific concepts. Differentiate instruction to ensure equitable access and meaningful engagement for all learners, including students with diverse learning needs and backgrounds. Engage students in authentic scientific investigations and engineering design experiences, promoting collaboration, discourse, and evidence-based reasoning. Leverage instructional technology and innovative practices to enhance learning, support data collection/analysis, and extend beyond the classroom. Collaborate with colleagues to support curriculum development and interdisciplinary connections, reflecting The Irvington Way . Foster a classroom culture that emphasizes respect, inclusion, and student voice, empowering learners to take ownership of their scientific thinking. Communicate effectively with families and the school community to support student growth and promote enthusiasm for science learning. Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
