Effective: immediately through June 30, 2024Qualifications: NYS Teaching Assistant Certification required at a Level I, Level II, Level III, Pre-Professional, Temporary, or Continuing teaching assistant level.Summary: Teaching assistants provide instructional services to students under the general supervision of a licensed or NYS certified teacher. Responsibilities Include:Works with individual or groups of students independentlyProvides teachers with information about students which will assist in the development of appropriate learning and behavioral experiencesAssists students in the use of available instructional resourcesAssists in the development of student instructional materialsAssists with the development of related instructional work as required including direct student work or copying student materials for classroom use, but is not limited to the above examplesAssists students with specific health related needs as requiredOther duties as assignedCandidate must:Maintains current NYS Teaching Assistant or Teacher certificationExhibits ability to remain flexible in difficult situationsEvidences ability to follow directionsEvidences ability to maintain classroom routinesEstablishes good relationships with children and others in the classroom and school buildingMaintains student disciplineExhibits resourcefulness in conducting classroom assignmentsExhibits good judgmentExhibits excellent communication skillsDemonstrates excellent initiativeDemonstrates excellent attendanceMaintains physical conditions commensurate with the duties of the position
