QUALIFICATIONS:All interested coaches must apply and submit proof of NYS coaching certification documentation.Coaches will not be appointed until all documentation is on file and current. Documentation includes First Aid and CPR certification, Child Abuse and School Violence Intervention and Prevention workshops and fingerprint clearance.NYS certified Physical Education Teachers are eligible to coach any sport with a valid First Aid and CPR certificate.Coaches cannot begin any coaching sessions until an official Board of Education appointment notice is received.More information about NYS coaching certification and required courses Guidelines for the Coaching RequirementsExperience coaching in an Education Based athletic program preferredPlaying and/or coaching experience preferred.Certified teachers preferredJOB GOALS:To accept the responsibility of the program and work with the students/athletes in the sport assigned to teach & model life lessons that will positively impact the physical, social and emotional well-being of all who are involved, to create lifelong relationships and memories for your student athletes.TRAITS OF AN EFFECTIVE COACH:Demonstrates a high degree of empathy, positivity, trust, responsibility, discipline & flexibility. Is a developer, teacher, achiever and problem solver.The Irvington School District is seeking candidates with previous interscholastic athletic coaching and/or collegiate playing experience. Prerequisites for successful candidates include strong technical & tactical knowledge of the sport, knowledge of interscholastic athletic regulations, and a history of mentoring young student-athletes. Candidates will also need to meet initial New York State coaching requirements including: fingerprint clearance, certifications in First Aid and CPR/AED, Child Abuse and School Violence Prevention Workshops and a DASA course prior to hire.
