The Irvington Union Free School District is looking for a Reading Teacher .6FTE / Building Sub .4FTE - MSQualifications: Appropriate New York State CertificationSummary: Secondary subject area teachers provide instruction in accordance with district, state and federal standards. Teachers work collaboratively with administrators, students, parents and other teachers to provide high quality instruction to students. Responsibilities:Prepares and delivers exemplary lessons to studentsProvides timely feedback to students from tests, papers and other assignmentsResearches new topic areas, remains current in the subjectDevelops curriculum in accordance with the District’s requirementsCommunicates with parents on a consistent basis ensuring communication regarding any student difficultiesSelects and uses a wide range of learning resources and equipmentProvides for the differentiation of instruction for students’ diverse learning needsManages student behaviors in the classroom and school building/grounds and applies the student code of conduct consequencesParticipates and organizes extracurricular activities as neededParticipates in departmental meetings, parent meetings and school wide eventsCoordinates and collaborates with other professionals such as special education teachers, guidance counselors, social workers and othersParticipates in ongoing professional development activitiesProvides college recommendations for students as neededProvides for the differentiation of student’s diverse learning needsApplies fair and ethical grading practicesProvides for assessment and recording of student developmentOther duties as assigned Other Qualifications: Prioritizes responsibilities and exhibits a high level of organizationDemonstrates excellent decision-making skillsExhibits positive demeanor, sense of humor and compassionDemonstrates reflective practice and continuous improvementDemonstrates motivation and good work ethicAbides by school and District policiesExhibits excellent communication skillsExhibits excellent attendance recordDemonstrates a high level of ethical behaviorMust maintain NYS teacher certification
