ANTICIPATED OPENING: SCHOOL YEAR 2023 - 2024Social Worker*School Social Worker certification required* The job of the School Social Worker is to promote and enhance the mission of Islip Public Schools by providing services to strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviating barriers to learning. The School Social Worker advances the understanding of the emotional and social development of children, and the influences of the family, community, and cultural differences on student success. The school social worker is responsible for working with all stakeholders, and implementing effective intervention strategies that promote positive school adjustment. Experience with individual and small group counseling, as well as crisis intervention Assist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, and positive behavioral supports Develop intervention strategies to improve behavior and increase academic achievement Provide referrals and work with outside agencies to support students and families Communicate with parents, teachers, and other stakeholders on a consistent basis Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team and knowledge of MTSS interventions Knowledge of CSE and 504 processes Working knowledge of McKinney-Vento and DASA Support social-emotional learning initiatives Spanish proficiency preferredPlease submit letter of interest and resume via OLAS to:Donna Brower, Assistant Superintendent for Human ResourcesApplications will be accepted through OLAS only.
