LONG TERM SUBSTITUTESecondary Social Worker* School Social Worker certification required*The job of the School Social Worker is to promote and enhance the mission of Islip Public Schools by providing services to strengthen home/school/community partnerships and alleviating barriers to learning.The School Social Worker advances the understanding of the emotional and social development of children, and the influences of the family, community, and cultural differences on student success. The school social worker is responsible for working with all stakeholders and implementing effective intervention strategies that promote positive school adjustment.Experience with individual and small group counseling, as well as crisis interventionAssist with mental health concerns, behavioral concerns, and positive behavioral supportsDevelop intervention strategies to improve behavior and increase academic achievementProvide referrals and work with outside agencies to support students and familiesCommunicate with parents, teachers and other stakeholders on a consistent basisAbility to work within an interdisciplinary team and knowledge of MTSS interventionsKnowledge of CSE and 504 processesWorking knowledge of McKinney-Vento and DASASupport social-emotional learning initiativesSpanish proficiency preferredPlease submit letter of interest and resume via OLAS only.No other applications will be considered.Approximately 8 weeksPer Diem $135 for the 1st 15 days; $150 thereafter
