Title: Special Education Teacher / Academic Intervention Services (AIS) (flexible assignment based on student needs)Deadline: 1/20/23Start Date: 2/7/23Initial Assignment: Evans Mills Primary SchoolThis is a newly-created position to fulfill the requirements and needs related to emergency relief funds whose purpose is to focus on the needs of students/staff based on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. This position will initially be slated to expire no later than June 30, 2024 unless extended by legislative action; however, the position may be integrated into the school budget on a permanent basis long-term. This position will include a flexible assignment serving Students with Disabilities as well as those requiring Academic Intervention Services with exact scheduling based on demonstrated student needs. Upon the start date, the individual in the position accrues seniority and begins or continues tenure progression in the candidate’s certification area(s). Once employed, the candidate is eligible for transfer into permanently funded positions.Eligibility: The successful candidate for this position must possess current New York State Teaching Certifications in Special Education (K-12) or Students with Disabilities Generalist B-2 and 1-6. The successful candidate should also possess current New York State Teaching Certifications in Childhood Education (1-6) required AND Early Childhood Education (B-2). Significant preference will be given for dual certifications and current Special Education Certification is required.
