Location : Ralph P. Smith Elementary School Employment Type: Part-Time, 0.5 FTE, annual appointment Position Summary : The Hyde Park Central School District is seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Elementary Music Teacher to join our team on a part-time, annual basis. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in elementary general and vocal music education and be passionate about fostering a love of music in young learners. The teacher will develop and deliver engaging music instruction that supports student growth, creativity, and musical literacy. Key Responsibilities : Planning and delivering age-appropriate general music instruction for elementary students Leading vocal music activities and performances Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment Assessing and documenting student progress Collaborating with colleagues on interdisciplinary initiatives and school events Participating in professional development and school-wide initiatives Qualifications : Valid New York State Certification in Music K–12 Experience teaching elementary general and vocal music, with elementary general music experience preferred Knowledge of and experience implementing Kodály, Orff Schulwerk, and/or Music Learning Theory (MLT) instructional approaches is highly desirable Strong piano/accompanying skills and the ability to create an engaging, student-centered music classroom Strong classroom management skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and support young learners Work Environment : May require lifting/moving of materials and equipment.
