F.D. Roosevelt High School, part of the Hyde Park Central School District, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to fill the vacant position of Varsity Cheer Assistant Coach for the fall season. This is a stipend position under the HPTA bargaining unit.The ideal candidate will assist the Head Varsity Cheer Coach in all aspects of the cheerleading program, fostering a positive and supportive environment for student-athletes while promoting teamwork, sportsmanship, and skill development.Our Portrait of a HPCSD Employee includes the following qualities: confident learner, effective communicator, adaptable innovator, critical thinker, and responsible citizen. Responsibilities:Assist with planning and implementing daily practices, focusing on cheer techniques, stunts, tumbling, jumps, and choreography.Support the Head Coach in developing routines for football games and competitions.Supervise student-athletes during practices, games, and other team events, ensuring their safety and well-being.Help maintain discipline and enforce team rules and school policies.Motivate and encourage team members, promoting a positive and inclusive team culture.Assist with team administrative tasks, as needed.Attend all scheduled practices, games (including football gamedays), and weekend events as required.Qualifications:NYS Coaching Certificate or the ability to obtain one before the season starts is required.Previous cheerleading experience at the high school or collegiate level is preferred.Knowledge of cheerleading safety guidelines and regulations.Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills.Ability to work collaboratively with the Head Coach, school staff, and parents.A passion for working with high school students and a commitment to their athletic and personal development.Schedule:Start Date: August 18thPractice Hours: 4:00 PM - 6:00 PM on designated practice daysGame Day & Weekend Availability: Required for football games and other scheduled team events.If you are a motivated individual with a passion for cheerleading and developing young athletes, we encourage you to apply!Hyde Park Central School District is an Equal Opportunity Employer.We are committed to creating a diverse environment and are proud to be an inclusive workplace.
