Position Overview: The Hewlett-Woodmere Public School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated General Education Teacher for a full-year leave replacement at Franklin Early Childhood Center, a school that services students in Prekindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade. The successful candidate will work to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all learners. This is an exciting opportunity for an educator who is passionate about early childhood education, values play-based learning, and is committed to helping children build a strong foundation for lifelong success. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of child development, early literacy and numeracy instruction, family engagement, and the importance of creating inclusive classrooms where every child feels valued and supported. Position begins August 26, 2026. Key Responsibilities: Plan and deliver engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with district curriculum and New York State Learning Standards Create a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom environment Support students’ social, emotional, language and academic development Collaborate with colleagues, related service providers, and families to support student growth Utilize assessment data to inform instruction and monitor student progress Maintain effective communication with families regarding student learning and development Qualifications: New York State (NYS) Early Childhood (B-2) and Childhood Education (1-6) Certification Preferred Experience: Experience teaching in an early childhood classroom setting Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices, play-based learning approaches, and evidence-based instructional practices Experience implementing early literacy, language development and foundational math instruction Familiarity with NYS Learning Standards Strong classroom management skills that promote positive behavior, independence and social-emotional growth Experience using assessment data to inform instruction and monitor student progress Demonstrated ability to build strong partnerships with families and maintain effective home-school communication Work Schedule & Compensation: This is a full-year leave replacement position Compensation in accordance with contractual pay scale Application Process: Interested candidates should submit the following: Cover Letter Resume Copy of NYS Certifications 3 References
