The Hewlett-Woodmere School District is seeking a full-time School Psychologist for the 2026-27 school year. The School Psychologist provides comprehensive psychological services to support the academic, behavioral, social-emotional, and developmental needs of preschool and school-age students. These positions include conducting psychoeducational evaluations, chairing and participating in CPSE/ CSE/ 504 processes, consulting with educators and families, and contributing to the development of appropriate educational programs and supports. The School Psychologist serves as a collaborative member of multidisciplinary teams and ensures compliance with New York State Education Department (NYSED) regulations, IDEA requirements, and district procedures. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Psychological Evaluation and Assessment Coordinate and conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations for preschool and school-age students referred to the Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) and Committee on Special Education (CSE). Administer, score, and interpret standardized cognitive, academic, developmental, behavioral, adaptive, and social-emotional assessments. Conduct classroom observations, site visits, and functional behavior assessments as appropriate. Prepare comprehensive written evaluation reports, behavior intervention plans and recommendations. Present and interpret evaluation findings to parents, educational teams, and CPSE/CSE/504 committees. Participate in multidisciplinary evaluations alongside speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists, social workers, and other related service providers. CPSE/CSE Process and Compliance Chair and actively participate in CPSE and CSE meetings as assigned. Serve as a district representative and provide professional recommendations regarding eligibility classifications, services, and educational programming. Contribute to the development, review, and revision of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Support transition planning from CPSE to school-age CSE and from elementary to middle school when appropriate. Ensure evaluations, reports, and documentation comply with NYSED regulations, IDEA requirements, and federal and state timelines. Track referral, evaluation, and annual review timelines to maintain compliance with special education mandates. Consultation and Collaboration Collaborate with teachers, administrators, related service providers, and families to support student success. Provide consultation regarding learning, behavior, social-emotional functioning, and early childhood development. Assist staff in implementing evidence-based interventions and behavioral support strategies. Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and problem-solving initiatives. Support district initiatives related to student mental health, inclusion, and early intervention services. Provide modeling for teachers, aides, and support staff regarding interventions and monitoring of student behaviors. Provide professional development and facilitate department meetings. Student Support Services Provide behavioral and social-emotional consultation for students receiving services in district programs and community-based settings. Assist in developing and monitoring behavioral intervention plans and support strategies. Provide individual and group counseling services as appropriate. Conduct risk assessments and participate in crisis intervention and response efforts when necessary. Monitor student progress and assist teams in evaluating intervention effectiveness. Participate in building meetings such as instructional support team, MTSS, threat assessment, etc. Family Engagement Communicate evaluation findings and recommendations to parents and guardians in a clear, supportive, and family-centered manner. Provide guidance and resources regarding child development, educational services, and community supports. Foster collaborative relationships between families, schools, and service providers. Documentation and Recordkeeping Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential student records and reports. Complete required documentation in accordance with district procedures and state regulations. Prepare written reports, progress summaries, and other documentation necessary for CPSE/CSE processes. Ensure compliance with all legal, ethical, and professional standards governing school psychological services. Qualifications Required Valid New York State Certification as a School Psychologist. Experience conducting psychoeducational evaluations and assessments. Knowledge of CPSE and CSE regulations, NYSED guidelines, IDEA, and special education procedures. Strong assessment, report writing, communication, and organizational skills. Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams, educators, service providers, and families. Preferred Experience working with preschool-aged though middle school age children. Experience with community-based preschool programs and related service providers. Experience serving on CPSE and/or CSE committees. Doctoral degree in School Psychology, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
