The Hewlett-Woodmere Public School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher at the elementary level. The successful candidate will work to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all learners. This is a unique opportunity for an educator committed to academic excellence and supporting students with diverse learning needs. The start date is August 26, 2026. Key Responsibilities: Provide specially designed instruction and differentiated support in all content areas Develop and implement IEP goals aligned with NYS standards Collect and report student progress data in accordance with IEP requirements Participate in team meetings, CSE meetings, and professional learning as appropriate Communicate effectively with families, related service providers, and support staff Foster an inclusive, positive, and supportive classroom environment Qualifications: New York State Certification Preferred Experience: Experience teaching in a special education/elementary school setting Familiarity with elementary curriculum including numeracy and early literacy instruction with an understanding of the Science of Reading Familiarity with IEP development, progress monitoring and data-driven instruction Experience supporting students with a range of learning needs, including social-emotional and behavioral supports Work Schedule & Compensation: This is a full-time probationary position Compensation in accordance with contractual pay scale Application Process: Interested candidates should submit the following: Cover Letter Resume Copy of NYS Certifications 3 References
