Job Title: Leave Replacement Special Education Teacher: First Grade Integrated Co-TeachingLocation: Franklin Early Childhood CenterDuration: Anticipated February 23, 2026 – May 22, 2026Position Overview:The Hewlett-Woodmere Public School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher for a three-month leave replacement position at Franklin Early Childhood Center, a school that services students in Prekindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade. This role requires NYS Students with Disabilities Certification that includes Grade 1. The successful candidate will work collaboratively in an Integrated Co-Teaching (ICT) classroom to support the academic, social, and emotional growth of all learners. This is a unique opportunity for an educator committed to inclusive education, academic excellence, and supporting students with diverse learning needs.Key Responsibilities:Collaborate closely with the general education co-teacher to plan, implement, and deliver instruction aligned with grade-level curriculumProvide specially designed instruction and differentiated support in all content areasDevelop and implement IEP goals aligned with NYS standardsCollect and report student progress data in accordance with IEP requirementsParticipate in team meetings, CSE meetings, and professional learning as appropriateCommunicate effectively with families, related service providers, and support staffFoster an inclusive, positive, and supportive classroom environmentQualifications:New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities B-2 or Students with Disabilities (All Grades)Preferred Experience:Experience teaching in an elementary ICT setting and collaborating with a co-teacherFamiliarity with first grade curriculum including numeracy and early literacy instruction with an understanding of the Science of ReadingFamiliarity with IEP development, progress monitoring and data-driven instructionExperience supporting students with a range of learning needs, including social-emotional and behavioral supportsWork Schedule & Compensation:This is a full-time leave replacement position, anticipated to be 3 months in lengthCompensation in accordance with District substitute/leave replacement teacher pay scaleApplication Process:Interested candidates should submit the following:Cover LetterResumeCopy of NYS Certifications3 References
