Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools has an anticipated vacancy for a dynamic leader to serve as the: AnticipatedAssistant Superintendent for Business & OperationsEffective Date: March 1, 2026 - preferredThe Assistant Superintendent for Business & Operations serves as the chief fiscal officer of the school district and is responsible for the planning, development, and management of all business and financial operations. This position provides strategic leadership to ensure fiscal stability, transparency, and compliance while supporting the district’s educational mission and long-term goals. The Assistant Superintendent for Business & Operations reports to the Superintendent of Schools.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesOversees the development, management, and monitoring of the district’s annual budgetProvides financial leadership, forecasting, and long-range planning to support instructional prioritiesManages accounting, payroll, benefits, accounts payable/receivable, purchasing, and fixed assetsSupervises Business Administrator, Director of Facilities and Operations and Director of Food Services, transportation and other business operations as assignedEnsures compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and reporting requirementsServes as liaison to the Board of Education, external auditors, internal auditors, and government agencies on financial and operational mattersPrepares financial reports, presentations, and recommendations for the Superintendent and Board of EducationManages collective bargaining, bids, and RFP processesSupervises and evaluates business office and operations staffCoordinates internal and external audits and implements corrective actions as neededSupports grants management, insurance, risk management, and reserve planningUtilizes data to improve operational efficiency and fiscal effectivenessQualificationsRequired: Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, accounting, or related fieldPrior administrative or leadership experience in school district business or finance operationsKnowledge of public school finance, budgeting, and governmental accountingStrong communication, analytical, and organizational skillsPreferred:Master’s degree in business administration, school business leadership, or related fieldNYS School District Business Leader (SDBL), School District Leader (SDL) certification or School Business Administrator (SBA)Previous experience as a Business Official, Assistant Business Administrator, or similar roleExperience with school finance systems, audits, and capital planningSalary and BenefitsCompetitive salary commensurate with experienceComprehensive benefits packageProfessional development supportInterested candidates should submit:Olas applicationLetter of interest to Dr. Dina Anzalone, SuperintendentResumeProof of certification (if applicable)Three professional referencesApplication Deadline: January 23, 2026
