Job Title: Leave Replacement Special Education Teacher: Kindergarten 8:1:2Location: Franklin Early Childhood CenterDuration: Anticipated December 5th, 2025 – March 30, 2026Position Overview:The Hewlett-Woodmere Public School District is seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher for a three-month leave replacement position. This role requires a NYS Students with Disabilities certification. The successful candidate will serve students in an 8:1:2 classroom setting at Franklin Early Childhood Center- a building that services students at the PreK, Kindergarten and First Grade levels. This is a unique opportunity for an educator committed to inclusive education, academic excellence, and supporting students with diverse learning needs.Key Responsibilities:Provide special education instruction in all Kindergarten content areas while following student IEPsSupport students in accessing the curriculum through accommodations, modifications and instructional strategiesDevelop and implement IEP goals aligned with NYS standardsCollect and report student progress data in accordance with IEP requirementsParticipate in CSE meetingsOversee teacher’s assistants and teacher’s aides as they assist to support the students in the classroomQualifications:New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities B-2 or Students with Disabilities (All Grades)Preferred Experience:Experience teaching students with IEPs in small-class settingsKnowledge of NYS learning standards for Kindergarten and experience with students in an early childhood settingFamiliarity with IEP development, implementation and complianceStrong collaboration and communication skillsWork Schedule & Compensation:This is a full-time leave replacement position, anticipated to be 3 months in lengthCompensation in accordance with District substitute/leave replacement teacher pay scaleApplication Process:Interested candidates should submit the following:Cover LetterResumeCopy of NYS Certifications3 References
