Job Title: Special Education Teacher- K-12 or 7-12Location:Non-Public School Resource Room (0.4 FTE)Duration: Part time positionStart Date: ImmediateEnd Date: 11/31/2025 Position Overview:The Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher. This role requires Students with Disabilities (Grades 7-12 Generalist or K-12 Special Education certification). The successful candidate will serve students in resource room setting in a non-public school (0.4 FTE).This is a unique opportunity for an educator committed to inclusive education, academic excellence, and supporting students with diverse learning needs. Key Responsibilities:Provide special education instruction in a Resource Room setting as per student IEPs.Collaborate with general education teachers to plan and deliver differentiated instruction.Develop and implement IEP goals aligned with NYS learning standards.Collect and report student progress data in accordance with IEP requirements.Support students in accessing the curriculum through accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies.Provide small-group instruction and academic support in a resource room setting.Reinforce executive functioning skills, study skills, and organization. Serve as a liaison between the non-public school, the district, and families to support IEP implementation.Monitor and document student progress; participate in CSE meetings as needed. Qualifications:Required Certifications: New York State Certification in K-12 Special Education orNew York State Certification in Students with Disabilities 7-12 Generalist Preferred Experience:Experience teaching students with lEPs in resource room settingsFamiliarity with IEP development, implementation, and complianceStrong collaboration and communication skills Work Schedule & Compensation:This is a .4 FTE leave replacement position at a non-public school within district jurisdiction.Compensation in accordance with district substitute/leave replacement teacher pay scale.
