The Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools is seeking a qualified and dedicated Special Education Teacher for a three-month leave replacement position. This role requires dual certification in Biology (Grades 7–12) and Students with Disabilities (Grades 7–12 Generalist). The successful candidate will serve students both at George W. Hewlett High School (0.6 FTE) and a resource room setting in a non-public school (0.4 FTE).This is a unique opportunity for an educator committed to inclusive education, academic excellence, and supporting students with diverse learning needs.Key Responsibilities:At George W. Hewlett High School (0.6 FTE):Provide special education instruction in Biology and/or co-taught science classrooms as per student IEPs.Collaborate with general education teachers to plan and deliver differentiated instruction.Develop and implement IEP goals aligned with NYS learning standards.Collect and report student progress data in accordance with IEP requirements.Support students in accessing the curriculum through accommodations, modifications, and instructional strategies.At Non-Public School Resource Room (0.4 FTE):Provide small-group instruction and academic support in a resource room setting.Reinforce executive functioning skills, study skills, and organization.Serve as a liaison between the non-public school, the district, and families to support IEP implementation.Monitor and document student progress; participate in CSE meetings as needed.Qualifications:Required Certifications:New York State Certification in Biology 7–12New York State Certification in Students with Disabilities 7–12 GeneralistPreferred Experience:Experience teaching students with IEPs in both inclusion and resource room settingsKnowledge of NYS Next Generation Science StandardsFamiliarity with IEP development, implementation, and complianceStrong collaboration and communication skillsWork Schedule & Compensation:This is a full-time leave replacement position.Position is split: 0.6 FTE at G.W.
