HEWLETT-WOODMERE PUBLIC SCHOOLS Assistant Director for Special Education Services Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools (HWPS) is located on the south shore of Long Island and is consistently ranked as one of the highest performing Districts on both state and national levels. The District educates approximately 2800 Pre-K through 12th grade students across five schools. Hewlett-Woodmere Public Schools is dedicated to providing all students with enriching and exciting educational experiences in caring, student-centered environments. We are seeking an innovative, experienced, and collaborative administrator to provide support and guidance to the District’s P-12 special education programs. Required qualifications: NYSED certification in administration (SDA/SDL). Preferred qualifications: Minimum eight years’ experience as a building level/district administrator; requires extensive knowledge of current special education law, non-public school mandates, and STACs; experience chairing CSE meetings, budget process, and supervision and observation of staff; the ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, staff, and community members. Effective Date: On or about September 1, 2024 Key responsibilities: Work with Special Education administrative team to implement Part 200 regulations and supervision of special education services.Serve as the Chairperson of the Committee on Special Education and the Committee on Preschool Education.Supervise psychologists, CSE chairpersons, nonpublic chairperson and staff, speech therapists, social workers, OT and PT.Observation of elementary and secondary teachers, and speech therapists.Ensure IEP compliance for grades Pre-K – 12.
