The Huntington Union Free School District is seeking an exceptional, student-centered instructional leader to serve as Principal of Jack Abrams Intermediate School, serving students in grades 4 through 6. Jack Abrams Intermediate School plays a critical role in supporting students during a pivotal stage in their academic and social-emotional development. The school is committed to fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment aligned with the District’s mission of promoting empathy, excellence, and high expectations for all learners. The Principal serves as the professional and instructional leader of the school and reports directly to the Superintendent of Schools and Cabinet. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to instructional excellence, staff development, student achievement, and cultivating a positive school culture that supports all learners. Responsibilities: Provide strong instructional leadership aligned with New York State Learning Standards and district prioritiesSupervise and evaluate instructional and non-instructional staff in accordance with APPR requirements and the Danielson Framework for TeachingFoster a positive, inclusive, and student-centered school culture that supports academic and social-emotional growthAnalyze student achievement data to inform instructional decisions, intervention supports, and program developmentSupport curriculum implementation and ensure continuity between elementary and secondary programsCollaborate with district leadership to implement strategic initiatives, policies, and district goalsPromote strong partnerships with families and the communityLead staff development and support the professional growth of all staff membersOversee building operations, including scheduling, supervision, safety, and daily school managementImplement Board of Education policies, Superintendent directives, and collective bargaining agreementsCoordinate building activities with other schools and district departmentsServe as a visible and accessible leader for students, staff, and familiesPerform other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee Requisites:Valid New York State School Building Leader (SBL) certification requiredDemonstrated successful administrative experience requiredStrong background in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and staff evaluationStrong background in STEM and Civic Readiness, with demonstrated command of New York State Learning Standards across all content areasExperience working with intermediate or elementary students preferredDemonstrated ability to use data to improve instructional outcomesStrong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skillsDemonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and fostering a supportive school environment General: Salary and benefits for this position will be in accordance with the District School Principals Association (DSPA) contract
