The Huntington School District seeks a highly motivated individual with the ability to lead and be responsible for the overall supervision and effectiveness of the School Counseling Programs K-12. The District Director of School Counseling & Testing K-12 reports directly to the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.Responsibilities:Work cooperatively with administrators, counselors, teachers and support staffDevelop, implement and monitor counseling programs in conjunction with State guidelines and District prioritiesDevelopment of annual departmental objectivesSupervise and evaluate counseling K-12 staffOversee student scheduling and testingAnalyze student achievement data and prepare reportsConduct departmental meetings and attend periodic after-school meetingsConduct professional development workshopsOversee a student caseloadInterview and recommend prospective counselors and support personnel as openings occurCoordinate vocational education programsManagement and reporting of home tutoring for students K-12Coordinate the department’s activities with those of other departmentsWork with and be available for students, parents and staff/colleagues as neededProvide supervision and professional leadership of the Alternative High School programOther duties as assigned by the Superintendent or her designeeRequisites:Candidates must demonstrate leadership ability and a willingness to devote time beyond the regular school day in meeting his/her responsibilitiesValid NYS Certification in GuidanceValid NYS SDL CertificationAdministrative experience preferredBilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply
