Huntington Union Free School District has an anticipated Chairperson of Special Education Leave Replacement Position. The position may be for 1/2 year or full year. Listed below are the responsibilities: Work cooperatively/collaboratively with administrators, teachers and support staffDevelop, implement and monitor the secondary special education programs in conjunction with State/Federal guidelines and District priorities/proceduresDevelop annual departmental objectivesSupervise and evaluate elementary special education staffChair CSE meetingsInterview and recommend prospective teachers and support personnel as openings occurConduct departmental meetings and attend periodic after-school meetingsConduct staff development and orientation of new staffProvide staff training, assistance and encouragement with the development and implementation of IEPS, behavioral supports and specialized instructional strategiesAssist in the reporting of all district, county and state dataOversee purchasing, distribution, maintenance and storage of materials and equipmentLiaise with parents and studentsOther duties as assigned by the Superintendent of Schools or his designee Requisites:Candidates must demonstrate leadership ability and a willingness to devote time beyond the regular school day in the performance of responsibilities.NYS teaching certification in Special Education or School Psychologist certification requiredValid NYS Certification as a School District Administrator or School District LeaderAdministrative experience preferred General: Salary and benefits for this position will be in accordance with the contract with the Huntington Chairperson’s Association (HCA)
