The Hunter-Tannersville Central School District is seeking a dynamic, student-centered Library Media Specialist to join our learning community for the 2026–2027 school year. This is a probationary appointment. Position Overview The Library Media Specialist plays a vital role in supporting teaching and learning by fostering literacy, inquiry, research skills, and digital fluency across grade levels. The successful candidate will view the library as an instructional hub and collaborate closely with faculty to support curriculum, student engagement, and lifelong learning. Required Qualifications New York State Teaching Certification as a Library Media Specialist Commitment to creating an inclusive, welcoming, and well-managed learning environment Strong collaborative skills and a student-focused approach to instruction Preferred Qualifications Prior experience at the elementary and/or secondary level Experience supporting information literacy, media literacy, and digital citizenship Familiarity with integrating library instruction into classroom projects and curriculum Responsibilities Include Teaching Library Media Standards; advancing digital literacy; and integrating STEAM concepts into collaborative, inquiry-based learning experiences. Collaborating with teachers to enhance instruction and student inquiry Promoting a culture of reading for learning, enjoyment, and personal growth Supporting students in developing research, information evaluation, and critical thinking skills Selecting and managing library resources that reflect student needs and interests Actively advocating for and promoting library programs and resources Start Date September 1, 2026 The Hunter-Tannersville Central School District values collaboration, curiosity, and strong relationships.
