We are seeking a dedicated, compassionate, and collaborative Teaching Assistant who will help implement our vision of student-focused learning and cognitive engagement at the elementary level. Key Responsibilities & Specific Skills Instructional Support & Collaboration: Assist the classroom teacher in the planning, preparation, and implementation of expected curricula content. Work closely with faculty to foster deep learning environments. Holistic Student Development: Cultivate a safe, supportive learning environment that provides each student with an opportunity to develop the necessary skills to succeed socially, emotionally, and academically while becoming positive contributors to their community. Fostering the "6Cs": Help embed the core competencies of the Herricks Portrait of a Graduate into daily classroom activities: Collaboration & Communication: Assist students in developing active listening skills, respecting diverse points of view, and expressing ideas clearly. Critical Thinking & Creative Innovation: Support student curiosity, problem-solving, and information literacy. Compassion & Confidence: Encourage self-compassion, resilience, and an environment where students feel safe taking academic risks and learning from failure. Feedback & Mentorship: Provide timely, supportive, and effective feedback to students during the learning process, serving as an inspiring guide and role model. Qualifications & Requirements Must possess a valid New York State (NYS) Teaching Assistant Certificate (Level I, II, or III) OR an appropriate NYS Teaching Certificate. Strong interpersonal and communication skills to effectively collaborate with teachers, students, and stakeholders. A growth mindset and dedication to social-emotional learning practices.
