Position Overview We are seeking a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction. This individual will play a pivotal role in realizing our Strategic Plan: Project 2036 and ensuring that our instructional priorities remain student-centered and future-ready. The successful candidate will lead with integrity, foster teamwork, and drive innovation across all grade levels. Core Responsibilities I. Curriculum, Instruction, and Academic Programs Lead the Curriculum Council and facilitate the review and implementation of new course proposals. Oversee the development, processing, and budgeting for district-wide Curriculum Writing Projects. Manage the adoption and inventory of textbooks and coordinate College Dual Enrollment Agreements. Collaborate closely with Curriculum Leaders and Directors to spearhead instructional initiatives aligned with our POG II. Professional Development and Staffing Design and manage the annual Professional Development and Learning Plan, including District Staff and Superintendent Conference Days. Oversee PD approval workflows (Frontline) and process salary advancements related to professional growth. Administer the Mentoring Agreement in partnership with HR and the Teacher Center. Manage schedules for observations and evaluations to support continuous teacher growth. III. Instructional Priorities and Strategic Implementation POG Integration: Successfully collaborate with staff to embed the Portrait of a Graduate within all facets of the District. Assessment & Success Criteria: Lead the exploration and definition of "assessment," ensuring alignment between what is taught and what is measured. Digital Future: Oversee meaningful technology integration, including the use of Artificial Intelligence to enhance instruction. Culturally Responsive Framework: Support the development of welcoming, affirming, and student-centered learning environments. IV. Compliance, Data, and Fiscal Management Lead Achievement/Data presentations and support principals with NYS 3-8 Assessments. Coordinate Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Academic/Behavioral supports. Manage the Curriculum Budget and oversee all aspects of ESSA Title Grants (compliance, reporting, and FS-10 budgeting). Facilitate Shared Decision Making and ensure regulatory compliance through private school consultations. V. Program and Operational Oversight Direct the Herricks Universal Pre-K (UPK) program, including recruitment, lottery, and registration. Manage vendor contracts and relationships (e.g., JCC, SCOPE, YMCA). Oversee the district’s Homeschool population and online registration processes.
