Position OverviewHerricks Public Schools is seeking a visionary Director of Fine and Performing Arts to lead our K–12 music, visual art, and theatre programs. As a district committed to "Shaping Education Today and Knowledge Forever," we view the arts as a vital vehicle for achieving our Portrait of a Graduate. The successful candidate will ensure instructional quality, consistency, and equity while fostering an environment where students can develop the 6Cs: Collaboration, Communication, Confidence, Compassion, Creative Innovation, and Critical Thinking.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide leadership for K–12 music, visual art, and theatre programs, ensuring all initiatives align with the district’s Mission to promote intellectual curiosity and creative expression.Direct and manage BOCES Arts In Ed for the district, including planning, programming, and scheduling.Develop and refine curricula and assessments that support Deep Learning, providing students with extended time to develop skills through continued practice.Supervise, mentor, and evaluate educators across all arts disciplines to maintain high instructional standards.Provide timely and supportive evaluative feedback to staff, serving as an inspiring mentor and role model of the district's core values.Oversee budgets, staffing allocations, facilities, and equipment for all arts programsManage essential tools and resources that serve as the foundational needs for student learning.Collaborate with building administrators on scheduling and staffing needs across the district.Coordinate districtwide performances, concerts, exhibitions, and theatrical productions that showcase student achievement.Coordinate large music festivals in partnership with NYSSMA, NMEA, and ASA.Build strong partnerships with families and the community to foster a shared "Vision of a Learner".Maintain active participation in county and regional organizations for art, music, and theatre.QualificationsAppropriate New York State Administrative Certification.Proven experience in arts education leadership and curriculum development.Commitment to fostering a growth mindset and an environment that supports exploration and learning from failure.
