These competencies include Collaboration, Communication, Critical Thinking, Creative Innovation, Compassion, and Confidence.Key Responsibilities:The teacher will be responsible for delivering high-quality English language instruction and fostering a strong early literacy foundation in a collaborative elementary setting.Deliver high-quality English language and literacy instruction aligned to NYS Learning Standards.Implement established early literacy programs, including Fundations, Heggerty, and Teachers College Reading and Writing Units of Study.Design and execute inclusive lessons that intentionally promote academic growth, language development, and social-emotional well-being.Partner daily with the Spanish-side teacher to ensure instructional consistency, shared accountability for student progress, and aligned instruction across sections.Engage students' families through clear communication and collaborative practices.Expectations:You will be an integral part of a highly collaborative first-grade team, embodying the district's emphasis on teamwork and collective success.Meet consistently with grade-level colleagues to align pacing, instruction, and assessments.Plan integrated units to promote seamless and coherent learning experiences across the English and Spanish sections.Utilize shared student data and planning tools to ensure coherence and continuous improvement.Engage in reflective dialogue to strengthen team culture and maximize positive outcomes for all students.Required Qualifications and Certification:NYS Certification in either Childhood Education (Grades 1–6) or Early Childhood Education (Birth–Grade 2).Demonstrated commitment to collaboration, inclusivity, and student-centered learning.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, especially within a co-teaching or collaborative team environment.Preferred:Familiarity with early literacy programs: Fundations, Heggerty, Teachers College Units of Study.
