Harborfields Central School District is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Permanent Substitute Teacher certified in English to Speakers of Other Languages to provide districtwide support during the 2026–2027 school year. The successful candidate will support English Language Learners across grade levels and school buildings, provide instruction aligned with students’ individual language proficiency levels, and collaborate with classroom teachers and other instructional staff. The assignment may vary based on student and district needs. Qualifications • Valid New York State certification in English to Speakers of Other Languages • Knowledge of effective instructional practices for English Language Learners • Ability to differentiate instruction based on students’ language proficiency and academic needs • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom management skills • Commitment to creating an inclusive, culturally responsive, and supportive learning environment • Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, support staff, students, and families • Bilingual skills are preferred, but not required Responsibilities • Provide ENL instruction and support to English Language Learners • Implement lesson plans and instructional activities aligned with district curricula and student needs • Collaborate with classroom teachers to support students’ access to grade level content • Monitor student progress and communicate relevant information to appropriate staff • Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment • Provide substitute teaching coverage and instructional support throughout the district as needed • Perform other duties consistent with the assignment Qualified candidates should submit a letter of interest, résumé, proof of certification, and supporting materials through OLAS.
