Description:The Harborfields Central School District is seeking an exceptional and student-centered Assistant Principal to join the leadership team at Thomas J. Lahey Elementary School beginning July 1st, 2026. The successful candidate will be a collaborative instructional leader with a strong commitment to elementary education, equity, and the academic, social, and emotional development of all students.The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in the day-to-day administration of the school and provides leadership in curriculum, instruction, assessment, and student support systems, including the effective implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).Primary responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:Support the Principal in instructional leadership, school operations, and the overall educational programProvide instructional coaching and feedback aligned to New York State Learning Standards and district initiativesServe as the New York State Testing Coordinator, overseeing the planning, administration, security, and compliance of all state assessments, including staff training, scheduling, materials management, accommodations, and reporting in accordance with NYSED guidelines.Support the oversight and coordination of building-level DASA-related matters, including concerns, reports, and investigations, in collaboration with the Principal and District DASA Coordinator.Support the implementation and ongoing monitoring of MTSS, in collaboration with teachers, interventionists, and Pupil Personnel Services staffAnalyze student performance and MTSS data to inform instructional decisions and targeted supportsAssist with teacher and staff supervision, observation, evaluation, and professional growthPromote a positive school climate, student behavior, attendance, and developmentally appropriate practicesSupport building safety procedures and crisis response protocols.Collaborate with grade-level teams, specialists, and support staff to ensure cohesive instructional programmingEngage families as partners in student learning and well-beingSupport building-level professional learning, faculty meetings, and school-wide initiativesAssist with student supervision, scheduling, and daily operations, as neededQualifications:Valid New York State Education Department certification as a School Building Leader (SBL), School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS) or the new Administrator Certificate requiredExperience in elementary education, preferably in grades 3-5Strong knowledge of the science of reading, numeracy, and developmentally appropriate instructional practicesDemonstrated experience implementing MTSS and data-driven decision makingStrong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skillsAbility to collaborate effectively with staff, students, families, and district leadershipApplication Instructions: Qualified candidates must submit a resume, cover letter addressed to Milton Josephs, Executive Director of Human Resources, and proof of certification through OLAS only.
