The Hoosic Valley Central School District is seeking a qualified individual to fill a full-time, 12-month Principal Account Clerk. This is an important position involving responsibility for planning, assigning and supervising complex account-keeping activities and/or independently performing the most difficult and responsible phases of such work.Plan, assign, and review the maintenance and verification of financial records and reports, providing specialized instruction to employees.Oversee the classification of complex receipts and expenditures, ensuring accurate distribution of costs according to prescribed codes.Direct audits of various accounts, claims, and records, and prepare detailed reports on findings.Compile, prepare, and analyze complex financial and statistical records and reports.Assist in the preparation of annual operating budgets, ensuring compliance with necessary financial controls.Manage the receipt and accounting of significant amounts of money for bills, taxes, and related obligations.Revise, systematize, and implement account-keeping and double bookkeeping methods and procedures.Reconcile ledgers of revenue with bank statements.Supervise the preparation of purchase orders and the acquisition of bids from vendors.Conduct correspondence related to financial matters.Coordinate payroll and benefits administration.Occasionally perform typing tasks for forms, ledger cards, reports, records, and other documents.REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Candidates must possess a thorough understanding of modern financial record-keeping methods, including double bookkeeping practices. Proficiency in office terminology, procedures, and equipment, as well as strong business English skills, is essential. The ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of accounting and clerical assistants is required. Candidates should be adept at following complex oral and written instructions, performing rapid and accurate arithmetic computations, and preparing correspondence and reports. Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for securing cooperation and effectively engaging with the public. Familiarity with departmental organization, functions, laws, policies, and regulations will be beneficial. Good judgment is crucial for resolving complex accounting issues, along with a high degree of accuracy, initiative, resourcefulness, tact, courtesy, and integrity. Candidates must have prior payroll experience and maintain a physical condition suitable for the demands of the position.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Either:Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and four (4) years of experience in maintaining financial accounts and records; two (2) years of which shall have been in a supervisory capacity; orFour (4) years of generalized clerical experience, plus the experience indicated in above.Salary: Commensurate according to experience.Candidates: Please apply with a cover letter, current resume, and three professional references.PLEASE NOTE: All interested and qualified individuals wishing to become candidates for this position must meet the minimum qualifications and submit a cover letter and resume.
