2026 SUMMER VACANCIES Internal Candidates Only POSITIONS: MUSIC CURRICULUM WRITERS (1) ELEMENTARY MUSIC CURRICULUM WRITER (1) SECONDARY MUSIC CURRICULUM WRITER QUALIFICATIONS: - Current employee of the Hempstead Union Free School District. - New York State Certification in Music Education. - Experience teaching music at the elementary level (Elementary Music Curriculum Writer) or secondary level (Secondary Music Curriculum Writer). - Demonstrated knowledge of curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment practices. - Strong organizational, communication, and collaborative skills. - Commitment to advancing student achievement and excellence in music education. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: - Review and revise existing P-12 Music Curriculum documents. - Align curriculum goals, learning outcomes, and instructional practices with IAAP and Portrait of a Graduate (PoG) expectations. - Refine the P-12 music scope and sequence to ensure coherence and vertical alignment across grade levels. - Develop student-centered learning experiences and assessments. - Create practical, engaging, and user-friendly curriculum resources that support high-quality music instruction. - Collaborate with district arts leadership to ensure curricular consistency and instructional excellence throughout the music program. PROGRAM DATES: August 20, 2026 – August 31, 2026 LOCATION: Hempstead High School COMPENSATION : Compensation shall be provided at the contractual rate for up to 15 hours per participant.
