2026 - 2027 SCHOOL YEAR VACANCY POSITION: CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE) COMPUTER TECHNOLOGY TEACHER POSITION OVERVIEW: The Career and Technical Education (CTE) Computer Technology Teacher provides engaging, industry-aligned instruction that prepares students for postsecondary education, technical training, and careers in information technology and computer science. The teacher develops students' technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, workplace readiness, and professional skills while maintaining a safe, inclusive, and technology-rich learning environment. LOCATION: ABGS Middle School KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Plan and deliver age-appropriate, standards-based instruction aligned with New York State CTE Learning Standards and applicable industry expectations. Teach courses in areas such as: Computer hardware and software Networking fundamentals Cybersecurity Programming and software development Web design and development Database concepts Cloud computing fundamentals Digital literacy and productivity applications Differentiate instruction to meet diverse student learning needs. Incorporate project-based learning, real-world applications, and hands-on laboratory experiences. Integrate employability skills, communication, teamwork, leadership, and professionalism into daily instruction. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Appropriate New York State Teaching Certificate in Computer Technology, Computer Science, or Career and Technical Education, or eligibility for certification. Bachelor's degree in education, computer science, information technology, or a closely related field, or qualifying industry experience as permitted under NYS certification requirements. Demonstrated knowledge of computer systems, networking, cybersecurity, operating systems, and current technology practices. Strong classroom management, communication, and organizational skills. Commitment to equitable, student-centered instruction. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Industry certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Cisco CCST/CCNA, Microsoft, AWS Cloud Practitioner, or similar credentials. Experience teaching in a secondary CTE program. Experience with project-based learning and competency-based assessment. Knowledge of work-based learning requirements and career development practices.
