SUMMER 2026 VACANCIES Internal candidates only Department of Bilingual Education & World Languages POSITIONS : ENL CURRICULUM WRITERS (GRADES 9-12) The purpose of this summer curriculum writing project is to strengthen and align the ENL curriculum with New York State Learning Standards, ELA Regents Exam expectations, NYSESLAT proficiency levels, and district instructional priorities. LOCATION: Hempstead High School (in person only) DATES: July 8, July 9, July 10 and July 13 and July 14, 2026 (Not to exceed 15 hours per participant) TIME: 12:00 P.M. – 3:00 p.m. (All selected applicants will be required to use Timepiece to punch in and out daily) QUALIFICATIONS: Valid New York State TESOL Certification KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Complete the Grade 9–10 ENL curriculum maps. Revise the Grade 11–12 ENL curriculum map to reflect the instructional shifts and updated expectations of the new ELA Regents Exam. Integrate newly adopted novels for the upcoming school year into the curriculum maps. Design unit plans that include essential questions, content/language objectives, pacing guides, and weekly learning activities. Create a scaffold map of differentiated supports aligned to students' varying English language proficiency levels. Ensure vertical alignment across grade bands to increase student readiness for state assessments. All participating staff are expected to actively engage in collaborative planning and submit required daily artifacts (including unit maps, scope, and sequences) at the conclusion of each session.
