2026 - 2027 SCHOOL YEAR VACANCY POSITION: THEATER ARTS TEACHER In Hempstead, the arts are an essential part of the student experience. We seek a theater educator with strong performance experience who is passionate about teaching and committed to fostering creativity, collaboration, and artistic voice. The successful candidate will build a program that serves students at all levels, from exploratory coursework to advanced performance, including live productions and recorded presentations such as broadcasting and production. LOCATION: Hempstead High School RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach a sequence of high school theater courses, including introductory and advanced acting Design engaging, student centered lessons supporting performance, improvisation, and creative expression Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learner needs Foster an inclusive classroom culture that encourages collaboration, creative risk taking, and reflective practice Collaborate with staff, students, and community members to support productions, including lighting, sound, set design, and costuming QUALIFICATIONS: Valid NYS Theater certification required Additional NYS certification(s) will be considered Prior high school teaching experience preferred Experience directing drama and or musical theater productions preferred COMPENSATION: Contractual CLOSING DATE: May 7, 2026
