2025 – 2026 SCHOOL YEAR VACANCIESDepartment of Bilingual Education & World Languages POSITIONS: INTERNATIONAL ACADEMY FACILITATORSInternal Candidates OnlyQUALIFICATIONS: Certification: Valid NYS Certification in TESOL and/or Bilingual Extension.Language Proficiency: Spanish-speaking and/or Haitian Creole-speaking preferred to effectively communicate and build trust with our diverse community.Data Expertise: Ability to translate complex state testing data and academic reports into accessible, parent-friendly language.Advocacy & Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal skills to address sensitive issues like chronic absenteeism and the implementation of trauma-informed support.Project Management: Proven ability to plan events, manage resources (including materials and refreshments), and meet deadlines. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: State Exam Exposure & Understanding: Host three conferences (K-6, 7-8, 9-12) specifically designed to provide parents with exposure to state exams. Facilitators will explain the purpose of these assessments, help parents understand the scoring, and provide clear tips for academic growth.Joint Family-Student Workshops: Plan and execute monthly specialized workshops where families and students attend together. These sessions will focus on literacy, language development, and navigating the U.S. school system.Attendance & Progress Advocacy: Use workshop touchpoints to identify and resolve the root causes of chronic absenteeism. Facilitators will work with families to build a bridge between consistent attendance and exam success.Cultural Showcase Leadership: Organize and host International Night on Thursday, May 21, 2026 (Multicultural Day) to celebrate the rich cultural diversity of the Hempstead community.Direct Coordination: Directly communicate all plans, workshop dates, and showcase details with the Director of Bilingual Education and building leaders. LOCATION: DistrictwideCOMPENSATION: Service Assignment II (Funding – Title III, Immigrant) Selected applicants will be required to submit a monthly log to reflect 10 hours worked monthly, identifying activities performed beyond the regular workday.
