2025 - 2026 SCHOOL YEAR VACANCY POSITION: 21st CENTURY PARENT COORDINATORInternal Candidates Only JOB GOAL: Increase parent and family involvement in schools, establish effective communication between home and school, improve community outreach and training opportunities for parents and families of students in grades K through eight that will impact student achievement, build a positive school culture, and provide students with a stronger sense of community. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess a valid New York State Teaching Assistant Certification • Excellent verbal, written and digital skills • Strong public speaking skills • Ability to work positively with parents, district personnel and community organizations • Must be available to work a full-time schedule Monday - Friday, 10AM - 6PM, including afterschool program hours, occasional Saturdays, summer school programming and other times as requested or required to oversee the program JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides welcoming support to families upon registering their children in school.Assists the district in meeting its mission to engage parents and family to support the 21st Century Program.Acts as a resource for families for the purpose of providing information and listening to concerns.Assists with Program scheduling and coordination.Assists with attendance and record monitoring.Coordinate and collaborate with parents and staff.Assists in leading and improving the 21st Century program with input from the community.Disseminates the 21st Century Parent Handbook and ensures receipt to all parents.Ensures Parent Participation in Advisory Board Meetings.Develops and maintains a Parent Library and provides training for parents based upon the results of Parent Surveys.Provides orientation for all parents new to the 21st Century program.Gather Family Members' input about Program Offerings and make referrals to agencies in partnership with the Hempstead Union Free School District.Facilitate completion of the 21st Century needs assessment.Provides recommendations to parents regarding adult learning opportunities.Serves as a liaison to existing parent organizations (e.g., PTO, Special Education PTO, etc.)Contacts outside community agencies for the purpose of seeking resources and activities that will increase the participation of families in school/district and parent training opportunities.Assists in creating Parent workshops and presentations.Creates opportunities to involve all parents in the education of their child.Participate in Compliance and Evaluation meetings.
