2024- 2025 SCHOOL YEAR VACANCYPOSITION: DIRECTOR OF SCIENCE AND STEM REQUIREMENTS: New York State Certification as a School District Administrator (SDA) or School District Leader (SDL) The successful candidate will assist the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction by providing development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of the Science and STEM programs. RESPONSIBILITIES:- Facilitate a short and long-term plan for the District to integrate STEM principles into the instructional program, including: Integration of technology, project-based and applied learning experiences, school-to-career connections, 21st Century skills.- Collaborate with principals and directors to ensure coordination of instructional programs among all school buildings with an emphasis on the STEM initiative.- Plan, organize, and direct all activities pertaining to P-12 instruction, including Science and STEM programs reflective of NYSED Learning Standards and Assessments.- Lead a process for the evaluation, selection, and acquisition of instructional materials, supplies, equipment, and textbooks to support STEM curriculum.- Plan, schedule, and implement programs of in-service training for teachers and related staff.- Provide support to principals and teachers in data-driven decision making to improve student achievement.- Develop budget and staffing recommendations for areas of responsibility.- Coordinate Science Program implementation, including partnerships with colleges, universities, and businesses.- Evaluate and enhance existing STEM programs.- Assist in developing curriculum and provide resources that support deeper learning utilizing STEM as a structure for instructional delivery.- Plan, organize, and embed assessments that will monitor student progress throughout the year in Science. - Stay current on trends and best practices in science and STEM education and incorporate new ideas and technologies into program development.- Assist principals and teachers in planning and administering a STEM enhanced instructional program.- Observe and evaluate the in-class performance of designated teachers.
