Data driven, the team leaders will strive to coordinate teams that nurture and encourage the high school newcomers in navigating through the initial steps in their secondary journey. Teacher leads will convene 1-2 weekly team meetings to establish team norms of routines, study skills, identity and instruction related to real-life. Team leaders will facilitate collaborative efforts to plan freshman transition activities (e.g. EWIs, town hall meetings, advisory, community report card conferences, and learning excursions) to ease difficulties students may encounter as they move from middle to high school. Team leaders will inspire teams to conduct themselves as unified preventionists and interventionists setting a trajectory to graduation.International Academy Lead TeachersOrganize teams of teachers to strategize progress for English language proficiency. Tasked with creating systems to provide a standards-based integrated educational experience for all students, team leaders will proactively assist team members to highlight advantages a student possesses by being a multilingual learner. Team leaders will facilitate 1-2 weekly team meetings with a focus on crafting a rigorous and comprehensive program within a nurturing environment, in multiple languages and cultures. Team leaders will facilitate collaborative efforts to plan transitional support initiatives (e.g. EWIs, town hall meetings, advisory and learning excursions) to meet and empower students where they are. Team leaders will also steer work with a greater emphasis on parent engagement to ease difficulties members of the community may experience.CTE Academy Lead TeacherGalvanizes a team of teachers to strategize to provide awareness and first-hand knowledge of Career Technical Education (CTE) pathways to students who have expressed interest in careers that call for specialized and technical skills. CTE lead teacher will facilitate 1-2 weekly team meetings to plan initiatives that will provide students with opportunities to network with professionals in various technical fields. CTE lead teacher ensures that team collaboration is deeply rooted in planning networking opportunities via learning excursions, classroom speakers and shadowing professionals in a specialized workforce. The team leader will also closely work with other academy lead teachers to facilitate passports to other academy workshops and seminars that may be significant to the CTEVAPA Academy Lead TeacherSynergizes a team of teachers to authentically create a climate and culture that provides students with first-hand knowledge of a passionate career in artistic industries. The VAPA lead teacher will facilitate 1-2 weekly team meetings to plan initiatives that will provide students with opportunities to network with professionals in diverse aspects of the artistic community. The lead teacher empowers team members to provide a platform for students to intensively explore a wide range of professions in visual and performing arts. Also, collaborating with all three other academies, VAPA team leader assists in providing VAPA academy students opportunities to develop and showcase their talents in school wide cultural events and initiatives.STEM/STEAM Academy Lead TeacherThe STEM/STEAM Academy is seeking a strong teacher leader to facilitate and motivate teacher team to prepare students who are considering moving forward in any area of STEM/STEAM. The work around this academy includes creating and/or establishing the best level of quality pathway courses. The goal is to have a team of like-minded educators to drive educational initiatives that equip students with the finest level of instruction that ignites student interest and curiosity in the art of the sciences. Implementing a narrative or theme that connects the dots, the academy strives to show students that science, technology, engineering, the arts and math are similar disciplines. For they all involve creative processes and none uses just one method for inquiry and investigation. Ultimately, STEM/STEAM Academy students will be inspired to make an impactful contribution to science and the lives of others.The Smart Scholars Program CoordinatorHandles the school-based management of the Smart Scholars early college high school program. The position involves forming partnerships with institutions of higher education (IHE) and community organizations; ensuring ongoing engagement in college coursework, tutoring, advising, effective strategies for time management, study skills and communication; embedding enrichment opportunities such as SAT/ACT prep; facilitating the Memorandum of Understanding between HHS and the IHE’s; promoting a district-wide college-going culture; arranging workshops on financial literacy and financial aid; ensuring support from partner college faculty on classroom instruction; facilitating a curriculum planning committee; collaborating with the master scheduler to include college courses in the HHS schedule; facilitating the ongoing recruitment of at-risk and underrepresented students; logistics such as transportation to the college; securing meals and materials for courses; ensuring fidelity of implementation; evaluating courses and transferability of college credit; assessment and maintenance of data; addressing program issues; overseeing expenditures; and reporting. The Smart Scholars Coordinator’s performance will be assessed via rubric.Work- Based Learning & Service-Learning CoordinatorCandidate makes school-based learning more relevant by providing students with the opportunity to apply knowledge and skills learned in the classroom to real world situations and collaboratively engages employers, CBO's, government and schools in providing structured learning experiences for students outside of the classroom. Facilitates pathway requirements of Seal of Civic Readiness and CTE through experiences in internships, co-ops, on-the-job training, transitional jobs, apprenticeships, community service, service-learning, Civic engagement capstone and Civic Engagement projects.
