The District is seeking a dedicated, enthusiastic, and student-centered individual to serve as the JV Softball Head Coach at James I. O'Neill High School. The JV program plays a critical role in the development of student-athletes by advancing fundamental skills, introducing advanced game strategy, and preparing athletes for Varsity-level competition. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to skill development, sportsmanship, academic accountability and character education.Responsibilities:Plan, organize, and supervise all JV softball practices and contests under the guidance of the Varsity Head CoachTeach advanced fundamentals, situational play and game strategyDevelop athletes in alignment with the District's Varsity program philosophyPromote sportsmanship, teamwork, leadership and accountabilityEnsure the safety and supervision of all student-athletesMaintain and inventory equipment and uniformsCommunicate effectively with players, parents, administration, and the athletic departmentComply with all NYSPHSAA, Section IX and District policies and regulationsAssist with program coordination and offseason development initiatives as appropriate.Qualifications:Previous softball coaching and/or competitive playing experience is preferredDemonstrate knowledge of softball fundamentals and situational strategyAbility to positively motivate and mentor high school student athletesStrong communication and organizational skillsNYS Coaching certification (or willingness to obtain)CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)Completion of all required NYSED coaching courseworkNYSED fingerprint clearance is required.Please submit a cover letter and resume for consideration.
