O'Neill High School is seeking a NYS certified K-12 teacher in Music Instruction with a focus in Chorus beginning in the 2023-2024 school year who aligns with our vision of providing our students, educators and the communities we serve with the global knowledge, cultural understanding and skills needed to compete in the global community.The Music teacher should be adept at the following:Develop a student's knowledge and skills in listening to and reading music, this includes but is not limited to aural skills and sigh reading;Be adept in the knowledge and application of vocal pedagogy;Have moderate to advanced facility on the piano;Possess above average to advanced conducting technique;Be well-versed in the knowledge and application of the tonic sol-fa (solfege) system;Have a strong foundational knowledge of music theory;Be able to incorporate both general and musical technology into the curriculum;Candidates must be certified in NYS Music Instruction and have previous experience working with adolescents. Interest in extracurricular activities is a plus, including continuing the extra-curricular auditioned treble and tenor-bass choirs preferred.NYSED fingerprint clearance is required.Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume for consideration.
