The Highland Falls-Fort Montgomery Central School District is seeking candidates for a probationary Elementary School Principal position at the Fort Montgomery Elementary School to plan and implement the educational program through the application of leadership, supervisory, and management skills to ensure each student’s academic and social-emotional growth. RESPONSIBILITIES: Lead and support teachers and administrators in the development and implementation of an experiential, collaborative, innovative, and technology-rich approach to curriculum, instruction, and assessment;Strong understanding and knowledge of the Teacher’s College Reading and Writing Project Curriculum, Wilson Fundations Program, iReady, and Eureka Math;Oversee the implementation of the MTSS framework;Determine, plan and implement professional development, assessments for learning, differentiated instruction, and equitable student access;In collaboration with administrators, supervise and evaluate teachers on a regular basis in accordance with the District’s Annual Professional Performance Review (APPR) Plan;Supervise the budget, procurement and delivery of instructional supplies and equipment;Monitor and evaluate the instructional program;Oversee safety/emergency procedures that ensure the well-being of all members of the school community;Develop and coordinate an approach to student discipline consistent with the District Code of Conduct;Detailed knowledge of DASA and its impact on student discipline, along with the ability to exercise fairness and equity when determining behavioral consequences;Collaborate with other administrators in the recruiting, hiring, training and placement of the school’s certified and classified personnel;Remain current in the profession through professional reading and other professional development activities;Develop and maintain a program of community relations to encourage meaningful parent and community engagement with the school;Collaborate with the central office administrative personnel in the following areas: Curriculum & Instruction, Human Resources, Business/Operations and Student Support Services;Supervise the maintenance of accurate records on student progress and attendance;Prepare and submit the school’s budgetary requests and monitor expenditures of funds;Coordinate procedures for student scheduling, orientation, transition and grading;Inspire and nurture the personal and professional growth of each member of the school community;Ensure adherence to all Board of Education policies and administrative procedures. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: NYS SAS/SDA/SBL Certification is required;Minimum of five years teaching experience;Minimum of three year experience as a successful building administrator;Strong command of New York State Learning Standards K - 8;Experience designing and implementing professional development opportunities;Experience in teacher supervision and/or peer coaching;Demonstrated knowledge of effective principles of teaching and learning and experience working with the Danielson Teacher Framework;Versed in the standards for teaching and learning and leading in the digital age;Demonstrated knowledge of NYS Culturally Responsive-Sustaining Frameworks; Ability to analyze data to improve instructional practice and student learning outcomes; Capable of implementing rigorous instructional strategies that set high expectations for teachers and all children including students with disabilities and English Language LearnersNYS TEACH fingerprint clearance is required.Please submit a cover letter and resume for consideration.
