HICKSVILLE PUBLIC SCHOOLS200 Division AvenueHicksville, New York 11801 VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT POSITION: FAMILY ENGAGEMENT COORDINATOR START DATE: Fall 2022 LOCATION: District Office DESCRIPTION: The Family Engagement Coordinator is primarily responsible to assist with structuring and guiding the District’s Parent/Family Engagement Program. The Coordinator will be responsible for developing and maintaining partnership relationships with parents to help engage parents and strengthen the voice of families to work with school staff and community leaders. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:Bachelor’s degree in Family and Child Development, Public Health, Social Work or related field; Master’s degree is preferable, not necessary;Must possess cultural sensitivity skills to work in a multi-cultural environment;Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working directly with culturally and economically diverse families, and community-based work which includes team leadership responsibilities;Demonstrated knowledge of community-based programs with understanding of suburban issues and communities;Knowledge of Social –Emotional Learning practices and programs;Demonstrated character qualities of enthusiasm, courtesy, flexibility, integrity, gratitude, kindness, self-control, perseverance;Ability to manage relevant computer applications;Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and diffuse difficult situations;Strong interpersonal skills, with ability to facilitate positive and effective communication between parents , students, and school staff;Highly effective organizational and follow-up skills;Demonstrated commitment to ensuring high quality, accessible education for all children;Proficiency in Spanish language preferable; MINIMUM PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:Coaching, guiding and working collaboratively with the Parent Family Engagement Team, Administration, Guidance Department, and Principals to strengthen staff and school community’s knowledge and capacity to increase parent engagement, enhance intervention and understanding of the role of parents/families to achieve healthy student outcomes;Building a parent advisory group and working committee(s) that center the parent-voice and increases district-wide efforts to listen to parents to identify and address issues impacting students and families; Reaching out regularly to parents and engaging families in meaningful and culturally appropriate ways to inspire and support their participation in their children’s education and ensuring they have the tools needed to be active partners in their children’s school experience;Establishing community relationships based upon knowledge of diverse formal and informal community resources; Reviewing and monitoring tracking tool and utilizing data to coordinate student and family participation /volunteerism and retention;Completing administrative reporting tasks and data entry of field activities on a timely basis;Communicating openly and honestly with the Superintendent and Board of Education; Developing and maintaining positive and productive relationships with all district stakeholders to allow for fuller exploration and integration of ideas relating to parent and family engagement and partnerships;Participating in family events/workshops and enrichment programs during afternoons/evenings or weekends and attend PTA meetings and appropriate school committee meetings;Fostering family-school-community partnerships and building a collaborative network of family resource organizations that can support and enhance students’ and families’ educational and home life needs and that promote child-development and well-being;APPLICATION DEADLINE: July 25, 2022 APPLICATION INSTRUCTIONS: Submit letter of interest, resume and evidence of NYS Certification to Ms. Rosemarie Coletti, Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, Hicksville Public Schools.Applications must be submitted online through OLAS.
