Hicksville Public Schools is accepting applications for the following ANTICIPATED probationary vacancy:DESCRIPTION: The Assistant Principal assists the Principal in the administration and supervision of the comprehensive Grades 9 through 12 high school instructional programs, personnel, and services. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:Valid NYS Administrative Certification: School Building Leader (SBL) or School Administrator and Supervisor (SAS);Valid NYS Teacher Certification;Minimum of 1-3 years of effective school building administrative experience preferred, preferably at the high school level;Minimum of 5 years of effective teaching experience, preferably at the high school level. MINIMUM PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:Assisting the Principal in providing instructional leadership for Grades 9 through 12 programs, students and staff;Conducting classroom performance observations of certified personnel, as assigned; Supervise instructional programs, evaluate lesson plans, observe classes and encourage the use of a variety of instructional strategies and materials consistent with research on learning Participating in evaluating annually the performance of building personnel, including teachers and other certified staff, and support staff; assisting with the development of performance improvement plans, as required;Working in conjunction with the Principal and the district department leaders;Handle disciplinary matters with a focus on positive behavioral interventions and restorative practices. Striving to create a school climate which is positive and productive for students, staff and community;Interacting with parent, student and staff concerns in a sensitive and timely manner;Engage in proactive communication with parents, guardians, and external stakeholders to foster strong school-community relationships, which includes returning all phone calls and emails from parents/guardians with efficiency;Maintaining high standards of student conduct in a fair manner which respects the due process rights of students; Communicating and collaborating with colleague administrators regarding instructional programs, assignments of personnel and programs for students; Analyzing student/program data and assisting the Principal in identifying and tracking students in need of support;Completing all other duties/projects as assigned.
