Key Responsibilities:Curriculum Development and Implementation:Lead the development, revision, and implementation of the K-12 ELA and Reading curriculum (as outlined in the NYSED Literacy Initiative #READNY).Ensure alignment of curriculum with NYS Next Generation standards and district goals.Integrate technology and innovative teaching strategies into the curriculum.Provide guidance on the selection and use of instructional materials and resources.Professional Development:Plan and deliver professional development for ELA and Reading teachers and librarians.Facilitate professional learning communities and collaborative planning sessions.Stay current with educational research and best practices in ELA, Reading, and library sciences.Assessment and Evaluation:Oversee the administration of assessments in ELA and Reading.Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.Conduct regular program evaluations and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.Library Services Management:Support school librarians in developing and managing library programs and resources.Promote literacy initiatives and library programs that encourage reading for pleasure and research.Ensure equitable access to library resources for all students.Minimum Qualifications:Education:Master’s degree in Education, Curriculum and Instruction, Library Science, and/or a related field.Valid teaching certification in ELA or Reading; and SDL or SDA certification required.Experience:Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching experience in ELA or Reading.Experience in curriculum development and instructional leadership.Experience in library management or literacy initiatives is a plus.Skills:Strong leadership and organizational skills.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in data analysis and instructional technology.Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of people.
