ANTICIPATED ADMINISTRATIVE VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENTPOSITION AVAILABLE FEBRUARY 1, 2023 POSITION: DIRECTOR OF BUSINESS SERVICESLOCATION: District Office DESCRIPTION: Reporting to the Assistant Superintendent for Business, the Director of Business Services is responsible for supervision of all aspects of the District’s business functions, including, but not limited to accounts payable, payroll, accounting and purchasing. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:Valid NYS Administrative Certification: School District Business Leader (SDBL)/School Business Administrator (SBA);Master’s degree and/or advanced degree in Business required, and/or CPA certification;Minimum of five years of responsible school business administration experience preferred;Understanding of teaching and learning and the role financial operations play in supporting the educational process;Demonstrated successful experience, comprehensive knowledge and understanding of school business administration in a K-12 school District. MINIMUM PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING ILLUSTRATIVE DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Administers all aspects of the District’s General Fund, Special Aid Funds and Capital Fund;Prepares required State reports, including ST-3 and Supplemental Schedules and Maintenance of Effort Report;Prepares the Quarterly Financial Report for the Board of Education;Prepares cash flows for TAN/BAN/Bond borrowing;Prepares Fund Balance projections;Prepares Fixed Assets Schedule for financial reports and ST-3;Processes year-end accounting functions, including accruals, rollovers, receivables, and payables; Prepares annual financial statements;Prepares Fixed Assets Schedule for financial reports and ST-3;Prepares budget transfers, monthly journal entries, and maintains and reconciles all accounts to nVision, including Accounts Receivable and Fixed Assets;Manages accounting of capital projects, including SA4, SA139, change orders, and final cost reports;Responsible for grant accounting and reporting;Supervises cash receipts and makes transfers to support payroll/disbursement requirements;Supervises reconciliation of calendar year-end and W-2s;Supervises Business Office staff;Reviews and approves bank transfers and all cash transactions;Approves monthly Budget Report to Board of Education for General Fund Appropriations and Revenue Status;Provides routine guidance to instructional staff and department administrators on efficient management of resources for instructional materials and services for the educational program;Oversees District resources for instructional initiatives and provides guidance to curriculum administrators on the purchase of supplies and materials to support the instructional program;Coordinates with instructional staff on field trip planning and textbook adoptions and purchase;Coordinates with building and department leaders to review educational programs and services to ensure the District’s risk management program is aligned with current instructional practices and services;Works with instructional staff to determine the needs of the instructional program;Ensures effective allocation of resources to meet educational and instructional objectives; makes recommendations to the Assistant Superintendent in the allocation of resources to support student learning; Performs all other tasks and responsibilities as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent for Business.
